There are times when I find myself staring at a blank sheet of 12×12 paper. I need scrapbook ideas but I cannot seem to think creatively. I might distract myself with organizing supplies or photos or even thumbing through some old layouts. Here are a few other tips to get your creative juices flowing and finding some scrapbook ideas.
Find More Scrapbook Ideas
1. Take a scrapbook challenge
There are many scrapbook challenge websites.
Visit one of these and take part in a challenge.
I really do like these as they get me out of my comfort zone and have me trying new things.
2. Scraplift
I find that if I start scrapbooking with the idea that I would scraplift from another project it gets my creative juices flowing. I usually end up with a project that is completely different from the original one.
3. Visit online galleries
I do like scrapbooking magazines and books. However, I find many unique techniques online at any of the many online scrapbooking sites.
4. Go window shopping
You don’t have to get ideas from just scrapbooking stores. Visit a furniture store and see what textures they have. Take a look at the fabrics and colors used for this season’s clothes. What about thumbing through a favorite children’s book at the book store. Read the headlines of some magazines. Stop by a few different stores and you can come away with ideas to complete a page or a mini album!
5. Go live a little
My scrapbooks are about my life. What I think, feel, hear, see, etc. So any time I can’t seem to focus on a scrapbook idea I take a break away from my craft table. I go and laugh with my family. I listen to the stories my kids have to say. I sit on my back patio and just clear my mind. Usually I find ideas start flowing!
Scrapbooking shouldn’t be difficult. Allow yourself some time to relax and you’ll start to realize that your life is full of scrappable moments!
