There are some moments in life that we remember forever.
The Story
The Girl was excited to start kindergarten.
She assured us that she was ready to go to school like The Kid.
However, when the day came she admitted to being a little scared.
She wanted her daddy to walk with her.
She had a lot of questions for him and needed some reassurance.

Scrapbooking the moments that aren’t always nice and pretty!
The Story
My kids usually get along.
The Girl knows that The Kid will usually let her have her way.
He hates having to tell her no.
But when she does hear no she might pout - for a little bit.
Then she realizes it’s more fun to play with him than pout to try to get her way.
Hence a unique photo moment!
The Purpose
This was created to fulfill an assignment.
The Journaling
I don’t know what you did to make her so mad. But there she is pouting and trying to ignore you. But you’ll apologize and she’ll get over it!
The Techniques
- MAD was stamped with foam stamps and an embossing pad. I embossed it with the Ranger Adirondack Embossing Powder.
- Stitching - After assembling the layout I used my sewing machine to sew a single stitched square around the main focus area of the layout.
The Supplies
- Cardstock (Prism Prismatics)
- Patterned Paper (My Mind’s Eye, Tres Jolie)
- Ink (Ranger Adirondack Brights, Mountain Rose)
- Embossing Ink (Ranger Big & Bossy Clear Embossing Pad)
- Embossing Powder (Ranger Adirondack Red Pepper Embossing Powder)
- Stamp (Making Memories and Lil’ Davis)
- Pen (Zig Writer)
- Adhesive (Adhesive Tech, Permanent Glue Runner)
The Challenge
Share a layout or write a story about a “not-so-pretty” moment!
Big Picture Scrapbooking changed my thinking forever.
Stacy Julian is Altogether Too Happy. She believes that scrapbooking should be “fun and doable”. There are no rules to scrapbooking. What? That’s right, you don’t have to scrapbook every picture. Your journaling does not have to directly pertain to the photo. The albums don’t have to be chronological!
Say it isn’t so! Oh, it’s so!
And it’s so much more.
Big Picture Scrapbooking is an inspiring and liberating book…and the same could be said for the classes at www.bigpicturescrapbooking.com!

There are many different reasons that I scrapbook - many different purposes for creating my projects.
- Tell a Story - Sometimes I just have a story I want to remember. I don’t journal and the kids are too old for a baby book so I write down the idea in a notebook and then create a layout to share the story.
- Feeling Artsy - Sometimes I just feel like creating something, getting ink and paint on my hands. It’s just a desire to do something creative and my creative outlet is usually scrapbooking.
- Assignment - In the past I have been part of a review team that was assigned to review products. I often created because I had an assignment due. Sometimes people create based on submission guidelines for a contest or publication - that would be the same “assignment” purpose.
The main driving force for me to create varies - just like many other things in life.
I give myself the flexibility to create for whatever reason I choose.
That makes me feel good!

The Story
I like this photo.
The kids jumped in our bed and hid under the big down comforter.
They made funny faces, laughed and in this one they have a more serious look.
The journaling came about after a trip to Target.
It was one of those days when you see somebody and think, Wow!
See, the journaling does not have to be about the specific photo.
You can use the photo to add to a story you want to tell!
The Purpose
This was created because the journaling was a story I wanted to tell.
The Journaling
I used to worry what if I become one of Those Moms. You know - the ones who can’t say “no.” They keep on threatening their kid while the kid smiles - knowing she’s all TALK. But I am very Happy to report that 9 and 6 years later I am not one of Those Moms! I can tell these two kids “NO” and you know what - they listen. No need for threats!
The Techniques
- I have some handwritten journaling, paper ruffle, sewing, ripping and inking.
That’s why I say this scrapbooking layout is my style.
- But I also have added a couple things that are a little out of my norm.
I used orange!
See those orange letters in the title!
I received them from my Poppy Ink kit and guess what, I love them!
Those are some of the American Crafts Vinyl Thickers and they are great!
Fun, easy to use and great way to add a different texture it adds to the layout!
The Supplies
- Cardstock (Prism Prismatics: Butter Cream, Frosted Pink)
- Patterned Paper (BasicGrey Infuse: Condense, Lace, Steep)
- Ribbon (Pebbles Inc.: Princess Collection)
- Stamp (Poppy Ink Exclusive: Scallop)
- Sticker (Making Memories: Tropical Colorboard Stickers Too Glitter)
- Alphabet (American Crafts: Sprinkles Vinyl Letters Thickers)
- Ink (Tim Holtz Distress Ink: Brushed corduroy)

The Challenge
Use some bright orange, teal, lime or fuschia on a project!
